Map Continuation 3 - The World

Now that we've finished all the maps, we can see the final "big picture" (literally!). Here's the World, Anno Domini 1900, with a POD in 1200.

I don't think Nord-Jarnasia is a dominion of England...

Also, I'd like to make some revisions to Europe, mainly adding in microstates.

I don't think I ever said this, but there is a Vatican City State within the Federation of Italy.

Oh, and I have another suggestion before we can post messages to other nations as one of our nations, or even make OOC posts about our nations, we have to create a page for the country we want to make a post for on the wiki, which somebody should make.
Info should include:
-Official name
-Common name
-Capital
-Languages
-Type of government
-Leaders/Heads of state or government/Monarch/Whatever
-Location
-(Optional) Flags
-(Optional) Map
-(Optional) Emblem
-(Optional) Other national symbols

I can make the wiki if necessary. Is Wetpaint good? We made the other wiki on it. And Krall, you can tell me what you want the wiki called, if you're okay with me making it (Or maybe you'd like to make it your self?)

Anyways, that's my idea.:D

I like this idea, sire.

Doge of Genova: Nicola Doria.

In Genova, the Dogeship is virtually hereditary, and it is passed down among the Doria family. The Doge is elected by a Coucil of Genova, which is elected by male patricians. Doges serve for 10 year terms.

-Official name: Kingdom of Yangtze
-Common name: Yangtze
-Capital: Shanghai
-Languages: Cantonese
-Type of government: Parliamentary Monarchy
-King: Guo Zheng III / Prime Minister: Wen Lim
-Location: Yangtze river basin
-Flag: The blue bands symbolize the rivers and the sea that give Yangtze life and wealth, while the part that stretches into the white symbolizes the nation as a whole, reaching towards the water to make their living. Both the color and shape, as well as the symbols that mean "Merciful Dragon", are remnants from when Yangtze claimed hegemony over all of traditional China; the feeling has ebbed over time, and now it is a largely symbolic claim.
Yangtzeflag.png

-Emblem: The gold again symbolizes the traditional (and symbolic) claim over all of China, the lotus is the flower of Shanghai which has become the national emblem, while the gold circled by blue symbolizes the island at the mouth of the Yangtze, near Shanghai, where the king resides.
Yangtzesymbol.png

Historical Profile: The Kingdom of Yangtze was originally ruled by one of the many warlords who vied for absolute control over all of China. Eventually, as that conflict devolved into little more than a symbolic war after nearly a century of bloody stalemate, the warlords started to give up their intentions of conquering all of China, settling instead on ruling their particular areas (the conflict has periodically flared up from time to time, with disastrous consequences). Based around Shanghai, which was at the beginning little more than a convenient and easily defensible spot from which the warlord could control his domain, it eventually grew in importance as more and more products had to sail down the Yangtze to reach the world, and more and more products had to enter through the Yangtze to reach the interior of China. As it expanded (very quickly) at first, its warlord eventually became more and more prominent, until he eventually crowned himself king. After a failed campaign to reach the Yellow River and make it the northern border, the Shanghai elite staged a coup and stripped the king of much of his power, setting up a stronger parliament. Now the king is nothing more than a figurehead, kept on his palatial prison, his island palace on the Yangtze, constantly guarded by Yangtze's formidable navy.

Cultural Profile: Although the Kingdom remains very traditional in its class structure as well as its spirituality. Confucianism and Bhuddism remain the most dominant religious denominations, but as always happens in major trade ports, other religions have entered it, and there are now sizable christian, muslim and hindu minorities.

Political Profile: The wealthy aristocracy of Shanghai dominate government, and although suffrage has been extended to all males over 21, only those meeting very high wealth requirements are actually eligible to be elected, ensuring their hegemony. The king has been stripped of all but the most symbolic power.

The current king of the Confederation of Nova Hibernia is King Eoin II. Though Nova Hibernia split off from the GE over 100 years ago, they still retained a king and a prime minister, like their mother country. However, unlike their mother country, their king is elected for life, rather than it being an inherited throne.

-Official name: Bundesrepublik der Geisebai/Federal Republic of Geise Bay

-Type of government
-Leaders/Heads of state or government/Monarch/Whatever: Syndic Jens Schulenburg

Historical profile

Geisebai was named for the Geises, a powerful Baltic German family that funded and/or led many missions of exploration and trade to northern Jarnassia in the 1500s. Thanks to the efforts of the family and other families, cities, and companies, the bay was dotted with German trading posts by 1600. During the 17th century the merchants attempted to create what amounted to a western version of the Hanseatic Pact in the New World. The German trading posts along the Geise, in the Arctic, and in the Great Lakes banded together with their mother cities and with some native elements to enforce a trading monopoly, to the exclusion of other European powers. The monopoly grew less successful as other Powers became interested in the region.

After the Hanseatic Pact became the North German Union in 1720, the Germans began to address the weaknesses of their loosely-bound trading network. A long string of wars had left much of the land formerly controlled by German merchants in the hands of stronger empires of the Celts, Navarrans, and Norwegians - the monopoly on trade in both the bay and the Great Lakes was no more.

A firmer colonial government was put in place. The old network of trading posts was replaced with the Geise Bay Trading League. This was organized along similar lines as the old network, but profits were distributed in a pattern resembling a joint-stock company, with both the colonial government and the government in Hanover receiving shares. The trading league kept control of a good deal of the administration of the eastern part of the colony, prefiguring the colony's later division into Seestaat and Geisebai.

The town-based mercantile oligarchs kept hold of the republic after independence. A liberal uprising and the extension of the franchise in 1848 did little to change their status.

Cultural profile

Geisebai as a whole has one of the lowest population densities of any nation. The frontier lifestyle in much of the republic has resulted in an independent-minded culture in which self reliance is a key value.
Mainstream Geiser culture is North German and Dutch, reflecting the mother country. However, Algonkin, Innu and Inuit polities from the beginning played a role in the nation's life, and many Geisers proudly incorporate the fashions and imagery of the indigenous people into their daily lives. Today, native peoples still form a majority of the population in the northern half of the country. A large number of Norwegians, English, and Celts, along with other Europeans, live in Geisebai.

The nation's public education system is a model - at least in the towns. The most popular sports are played outdoors on ice skates. In the south, the more Celtic-influenced regions, caber tossing and curling are inseparable parts of the culture as well. Geisebai is almost 100% Protestant. A number of "old order" style Anabaptist colonies can be found in the interior.

Social mobility is medium. A very small titled aristocracy still exists from colonial days and encompasses people of both Native and German heritage, but it has no formal power. The fishing, fur, and shipping barons constitute Geise Bay's ruling class, but they are by no means a closed class. Industrialization is happening slowly thus far, seen primarily in modern techniques applied to the aforementioned industries. The majority of the population remains rural, poor, and tied to the primary industries.

Political profile

Reforms in 1848 produced the modern constitution. Provinces have replaced the old trading posts as the primary agency of administration. The provinces elect members to the Diet, a 2-chamber legislature in Könastadt. The Diet elects the Syndic, basically a President, who serves as both head of state and head of the government.

Geisebai is quite democratic in form, although economic realities give the country an oligarchic feel in many respects.

-Official name: Republica della terra Libera di Panthera/Republic of the free land of Panthera

The phrygian cap symbolizes the republican power wich rules the country, as used by the classical Italian Republics.
The colours are for strenght(red), wealth(yellow) and progress(blue).

- Emblem: The Panther with the frigian Cap, surrounded by two branchs, one of coffee and the othe one of sugar.
-Other national symbols: The Panther itself, the one covvered with dots(Giagare, OTL Jaguar) adn the balck Panther all symbolizes the nation.

-Historical profile

Initially ignored, at least if compared with the northern lands, Panthera grew with free workers rather than slave work force. While the northern colonies producted much more sugar, Saint Gertrudes(its former name) developed focusing inner consumption. The discovery of terra rossa, a highly fertile land after the Coastal Montains (called by the padanains “La Muraglia”), and the explorations in the inner part of the continent brought many immigrants and religious minnorities to these southern lands.

With the Discovery of gold and Diamonds in these lands, the SPIOC(Societá Padani dellas Indie Occidentalli) started to tax more and more Santa Gertrudes, in order to get this new fount of money and stop the its concentration there. The money gattered until then, plus the nationalist and liberal ideas that were appearing and the rise of the Italian Federation ended with the independence of this Padanian colony.

It’s named after the legend about the Discovery of these lands: it was said that the first expedition that saw Panthera’s coast was lost in a storm, and prayed to Saint Gertrudes, Saint of the travellers (and cats) to help them. The storm ended and they spotted land. At the beach there was a big feline, with they thought to be a Tiger or a Panther, as there were in southern Asia. The nickname "Terra Panthera" or "Terra Giagare" was used to describle Panthera since then. Much after, when the independence moviment started, they got in the feline the perfect symbol for Pantheran nationality and authority.

After a definitive victory in the War of Independence, Panthera helped other nations in their own independence moviments. The cooperation between Federicco Carnielle, the second pantheran rector, and the Andretian liberator leed to the independence of his country and of many others.

Panthera has developted pretty well since then, became the first industrialized country in Mediccia and symbol of liberty and progress for the World.

-Political profile
Panthera is ruled by a Rector, the representant of the Electoral Collegium. He is elected by the majority of the Electors (i.e. Senators), who vote the laws. There's also the Representative Collegium, wich has the larger number of collegiates and works with the Electoral Collegium as "legislative power".

The Rector is elected by the Electoral Collegium, but also needs the approval of both the Collegii. Then, he can create the Prime Council, wich works with him as the executive branch.

The head of state is the Doge, who is also indicate by the Collegii, and is choosen to represent the nation itself. It has very little effective power, and work as a representative figure of the nation in the foreign affairs.

The voting rights in Panthera are allowed to every citizen with more than 19 years old that can read and write.
