Why does Austria-Hungary lose Transcarpatha?

Can you explain this "Holand" to me also?

Because the Russians hang onto it during the war, but have to surrender it during the peace treaty.

ITTL, the Netherlands enter the war late on the side of the Entente. So, much like Belgium, the Central Powers and the Entente agree to split this country up.

More to the point, what's the next challenge? I assume it's going to be starting relatively soon...

Let voting now begin! Can you hear me in Austria-Hungary, Franzsa? Soviet Union: nul points ;)

The voting will proceed soon.

So, think it'll take about a day or so before we find out who won?

It depends on how unified the vote is by the judges...as I have yet to even take stock of the maps (it is the weekend afterall) it could be short or it could take a few days.

You'll find out when the next contest begins, and not sooner.

Just so everyone knows, there is a runner-up selected for every round of the contest. This runner-up will be kept secret if someone wins and has not won a previous contest, but will be the official winner of a contest if a contestant has already won a contest.

Frex, if EdT happens to win the next one as well, the runner-up will be the official winner of that round.

After the first five contests, those five winners will compete in a sixth and final contest whose theme will hopefully be chosen by Ian. The runners-up of the previous contests (whose names will be kept secret till then) will also be eligible to compete in #6, unless they've come in first in one of the remaining contests, in which case they'd be entered automatically.

So even if you didn't win this one, keep entering the next contests!! :)

Great job! :D

With that out of the way the contest challenge is... :drum roll:

dum...dum...dum...dum

...a Fantasy themed map.

A little explanation as to what a fantasy map is. A fantasy map could be a completely original map made up by you, a redone map of an existing story (for example say a map of Middle Earth...and so help me if someone does this it had better be original cause if I find out you snitched it from another website....... ), it could be a fantasy take on Earth.

Best of luck to you in this round,

The judges three

oh, fantasy, thats an interesting one, alows for a bit more creativity then the Post1900 one.

Just a quick question, do all the members have to enter each contest? cos some ppl who signed up didnt enter one in the first round...

No. Enter any contest you want or skip which ones you don't have time to do one for. The sign up sheet was more for us judges to get an idea on how many contests we might want to have (a lot of people and we might have had a more tiered contest approach). However the more contest you enter the greater your chance of moving onto the final round (and of course bigger bragging rights if you win).

Does that mean it can't be an Earth-based map? Or can we use an Earth thing with a Magick-based POD?

It means that you could start from scratch and create your own fantasy map, or you could use a Earth base map and go from there. (See to Diamond's Washington's Warlocks maps for an example.)

You have one week (and roughly seven hours) to finish this challenge. Round two maps must be in by 4 PM EST next Tuesday. Remember you can post your map at any time but this time around the first map you post is the one we are going to accept (any additional ones will be ignored).
Didn't it work the other way in Challenge #1?
