MAP CONTEST: First map challenge.

This wait time is way too long- why can't it be posted earlier?

Good job, EdT... I hope there's a plan for if we have the same person win multiple rounds, because if EdT's other maps are like that one, I think there's a good chance he might win all of them...

Young grasshopper, impatient you are... :p

Well there are several reasons why:

1) It is easier on us judges if we have a set time (Friday to Friday, or Saturday to Saturday) instead of it being willy-nilly (maybe for other contestant too).

2) While this contest had a quick voting round it may not always be the case and we may need additional time to come to a conclusion.

3) Maybe we like making you wait... ;)

But I'll confer with the other judges to see if they mind if we start the next contest early.

Yes there is a plan, and I think it just so happened that this particular contest challenge worked in EdT's favor...the next might not.

Thanks all! :D Some real competition there too- particularly liked Thande's, Highlander's and Theloneamigo's contibutions...

Looking forward to the next round, am I allowed to enter now or will I just have to be a spectator?

Thank you.

Yes, H'lander; EdT has been here for over a year but just hasn't been around for a few months.

I don't want to sound ungrateful or whiny, but can I suggest that we make one of the contests a challenge where you can ONLY use MSPaint? I just thought it might level the playingfield - not everyone has Photoshop...furthermore I did my background on a Ulead programme so I didn't only use Paint myself, so I'm not complaining on that score...it might be interesting.

Only if we can still use GIMP... which can be freely downloaded and used on Windows, GNU/Linux, BSD and - I think - OS X.

And congrats to EdT. Can't say that I complain about the choice.

But my computer, strange as it may sound, doesn't run Paint correctly... It crashes when I attempt to load a blank map, or any other image file for that matter.

Really? That's a pity.

Still, on the bright side, it's not as though you'd be able to tell the colours apart if it did load, thanks to your legendary monitor :D

Well, Paint Shop Pro can do everything Paint can...

I could just try to limit myself to things that can be done in paint... the main problem would be the color-change tool (I know Paint has one, but the PSP one can do the whole image with just a double-click, and I use it often)

That's useful. You can do it in Paint with the whole image if you open two windows and just keep copying and pasting back and forth, though.
