Manchukuo Emperor Surrenders to Americans

Puyi or the Emperor Kangde as set up by the Japanese during World World Two in their little protectorate of Manchukuo, following the Soviet invasion of Manchuria and Japan's gradual surrender attempted to flee to Japan so that he could surrender to the Americans rather then the Chinese. OTL he is taken captive by the Soviets, spends a number of years in a sanitorium and comes out a loyal follower of Communism....and no doubt helped or legitimized the division of Manchuria bewteen the USSR and Communist China.

So what would likely happen if Puyi successfully escaped to Japan and surrendered to the Allies? Would Manchuria possibly remain independent of China? Wuld their be a conflict bewteen the US, Soviets, and Nationalist and Communist Chinese over the fate of Manchuria and by extension Korea?

Geography has much to play in this scenario. As things are OTL, there were no Americans or British to surrender to.

Unless you have him surrendering to Chiang Kai-shek and the KMT..

He attempted to flee to Japan, but was captured en route.

That would most likely be a quick shot to the back of the head.
