Malta part of Italy

Before the rise of Fascism, many in Malta harbored pro-Italy views - it should not be surprising given the cultural and historical ties between the archipelago and Sicily - so it could have happened if the UK had not annexed it; after the rise of Fascism however, pro-UK views prevailed.

The treaty of Amiens was at the end of the French Revolutionary Wars and was pretty much overturned by the treaty of Paris at the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Do you think, that, Britain could have returned Malta to the knights with concessions for a naval base and continued such a deal with Italy once it took over?

No Malta is too strategic for that and Italy is too powerful. The knights also have too little support .
