Malcolm X Survives

Based on the -- MLK not Assassinated -- thread.
I have always considered Malcolm more interesting than Martin. [not that Martin isn't interesting]

Malcolm had left the Black Muslim Movement and was moving toward the Mainstream Muslim Positions.
However I expect he would continue with His Black Self Sufficiency views.
I think He would have been opposed to Mass Bussing, prefering increased spending on improving the existing schools.

?What effect would his survival have on the Civil Rights Movement.?
?On the Black Muslim Movement?. ?More Less Black Muslims? ?More or Less Blacks that are Muslims?
?Ebonics? ?Rap Culture/HipHop? ?Acting White?

Well, if the NoI was behind his attempted assassination, it could wind up destroying the NoI. (It should be noted that the NoI did decrease in membership after Elijah Muhammad died and his son took over...though Farrakhan did lead the splinter group...)
If it wasn't, someone either in the FBI,CIA, and/or Organized Crime would have egg on their face.
One thing that Malcom was doing OTL was trying to get the UN and other organizations to hold the US to the same standards as other nations re: Racial Discrimination. If the US was held to this standard, the foreign policy implications alone would be shattering...

I think Malcolm X would have entered into the same breath as MLK. Not saying he does have equal status as a Civil Rights Leader but I think his views, particularly as he was seeming to Moderate (if thats the right way to put it) as he got older. I think the answer to your question is more black muslims and with that a much healthier racial scene in America, particularly if his UN policies were brought to fruit.
