Historian
There are many careers to chose from and all are interesting but one can stand out above the others and that is the job of Historian. A Historian is a job that can land you a job in many places such as a college, high school, or even a museum. You of coarse need a good amount of training for this job and some qualifications include up to 9 extra years in college! The place of work is always usually nice and quite unless your working at a high school which then you need to be able to take control of the students. The job requires lots of patients as and a nice suit to and lots of time to read and write papers. There is a huge amount of reading that is done for a Historian and you almost always can use the information later on. The most money you can make from the job is up to $100,000 and the least is $47,000 so a good position will land you somewhere in the middle if your lucky but the more education you have, the more money you will get paid. Also it is a great thing to have some internship or on site training as this would really look good on a resume. To be a Historian would be a tough job to train and work towards but once you get there, you can take a breath of fresh air and just spread the wealth of knowledge.
When you look over the job of being a Historian, the job can include a lot. A person who wants to be a Historian has the choice to chose one of the two main careers, school teacher/professor or a museum curator. These are the two jobs that most Historians chose as there career of choice. If you chose the path of a school teacher then you had better be prepared. You may think that just because you decide that your going to be a teacher, you get the whole summer off. NOPE! You may have more time off but your going to have to spend a lot of time planning the whole next school year lesson plan and come up with a lot of work and projects to keep the students busy. It is also wise to take the other free time in the summer and have you learn new things by taking some college classes to increase your knowledge and to maybe get a raise for knowing more. Then when the school year starts, you may think that you will be able to relax after school and on the weekends. NOPE AGAIN! You are going to have to make and grade student work and quiz's. This can be a very demanding job and it can take a few years until you get the hang of it before you are able to balance work and having a life/free time. If you become a college professor though, you may have a little more relax time. You will still have to teach and make and grade work but the students will listen to you more and will maybe learn something they will remember in a few years. College professors also get paid more and can have a more relaxed job as colleges are run privately and schools are run by the state. For both of these jobs, it requires 10 years in college and at least 1-3 years internship. There is also the other main career choice that historians chose. The path that takes them to work in museums. At museums, jobs can range from curator, VIP tour guide, and cataloging the historical artifacts that no one else gets to see. Depending on the museum, you can get paid a lot or a little but you would be able to see things the average person would not. A historians job can be very rewarding and crappy at the same time. The job requires a lot of patiences with everything from students to work to old books. You need to be good at reading and at public speaking as you need to be able to read to and talk to students and scholars. The number one thing in this career field is being able to remember all the information you read and hear about and be able to recall this information off the top of your head. You must also be good at writing you have to make student work or even write historical papers for the higher scholar community to read and maybe with one of those papers, you could get into the that community. All things aside, being a historian demands a lot physically and mentally.
