Make Turcophilia as popular as Japanophilia

WI: make Tucrophilia as popular among Westerners (especially young ones) as Japanophilia is to Americans in OTL. You can have a point of divergence as early as 1914. Begin!

Have them develop a popular culture as popular as what the Japanese developed postwar. Japan took heavy American influence in, especially after their loss and occupation following WWII.

Turkey? Harder. I don't know much about the native media and culture, but it was never quiiite in the same way Japan or Europe was in getting US influence. Ataturk did a lot to westernize Turkey though, so maybe have the mood of the time also imitate the west in developing native pop culture (and akin to western stuff) more?

Recall a lot of Japanophilia today is due to anime and manga (both OTL which were inspired by American entertainment stuff), so having similar industries (and even scenarios and parallel storylines) would help a good deal, with a Turkish sheen of course. No direct conquest by the US to force its views and links on the country makes this a lot harder, however.

Yeah, not after being a major power for like 500 years and then finally decline as all nations do, compared to Japan on a brief and dramatic upswing.

An upswing that ended only because they bit off more than they could chew.

It would have ended if they didn't bite too, as they wouldn't have been able to grow without biting. The Ottomans meanwhile trudge along as one of the most powerful nations in the Western world for centuries, rivaling an entire continent at points.

I'm not so sure. Keeping Taiwan and Korea fixes much of the Japanese resource crunch.
