Make these the ten largest cities in the US.

It's hard to get both St. Louis and Chicago on the list. One of them was going to be the rail hub in the late 19th century and Chicago was it. In terms of LA, have San Fernando become its own political entity. San Francisco/Oakland is relatively easy. The whole Bay Area is the 4th largest media market in the US. Have San Francisco expand south to include San Mateo county and San Jose County while Oakland covers Berkeley, Heyward, Fremont and essentially everything west of the Oakland Hills. The rest of the cities were/are on the list of largest cities so its just a few adjustments here or there.

Key thing to remember here is that a lot of this is semi-arbitrary political divisions. Arguably New York City could have been split into 1 independent city per borough while LA could expand enormously if Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Pasadena, Compton, Carson, Long Beach and a whole host of small entities were included ala New York.
