September 14th, 2014; New owner Donald Trump is greeted with a mixed reception from the Bills fans before the home team's 29 to 10 victory over the Miami Dolphins.
 
September 15, 2014: In a statement to the press, Donald Trump claims that under his leadership, the Buffalo Bills "will experience so much winning they're gonna get tired of winning!"

And then the teams that are most financially sound regroup to form another league?
 
North American Football Association? The World League of Football? Football Americana? XFL 2.0?

World League would be my pick. Maybe the hypothetical London Monarchs that have been hinted at the last nine years could be feasible TTL? Or still ASB?

I'm pretty sure that they would know he's joking. That part is retconned

A devastating hit from Oakland Raiders rookie LB Khalil Mack leaves Patriots superstar QB Tom Brady with a broken leg. The hit was ruled legal and no penalty enforced on the play. Backup QB Jimmy Garoppalo played well in relief, throwing 2 TD passes to Julian Edelman in the fourth quarter, and the Patriots won a most Pyrrhic 21-10 victory. Brady is expected to miss the remainder of the 2014 season.
