Make post-WW2 Turkey more successful

Hi everyone.

So I was reading a bit on Turkey's Cold War history and I was rather surprised by the sheer amount of military coups that occurred in the period.
Turkey was a quite unstable country with seemingly rising islamism and associated terrorism coupled with somewhat weak governments, all of this combined with a fairly mediocre economic growth (or mainly, improvements in the quality of life).

So I was wondering, how could you possibly make this country more stable and more economically successful? What impacts could a stronger Turkey have in the Cold War and modern era?

Just doing the frozen breasts instead of the entire bird has had a pretty good effect on sales other than at Thanksgiving...

The rise of Islamism is almost impossible to avoid. There is a tension between the west (as a series of abstract ideas like the liberalism, the rule of law, the scientific method, etc.) and a country's actual traditions, folklore and culture.

Many countries like Japan and Iran have gone through a period of excessive westernization, where the country's native traditions and culture are seen as backwards impediments to modernization. Eventually the peasants/recently urbanized see the elite as hostile, uncaring and sold out to foreign powers, and there is a deeply anti-western reaction. This can take the form of fascism, ultranationalism, or religious fundamentalism, and may lead to a revolution or change of government.

Ideally a country will find a healthy equilibrium that combines confidence in its own romantic customs/traditions and comfort with rationalism. A Kemalist situation of extreme secularism and suppression of local customs is bound to create a (over)reaction at some point.
