Maine doesn't blow up

Suppose the battleship Maine does not blow up what difference does it make to the us and the rest of the present day world? Big, broad question I know, but you can handle it;)

I think maybe no Fidel Castro and a much different WWII at least for the USA, for starters.

Depends. Whilst there would be no immediate casus belli without the Maine's sinking she'd been sent there to look after American interests in the civil war so the US was already starting the throw their weight around. I think there would probably be some sort on incident that would occur that the press would be able to whip up into something more significant and allow the US to intervene. Without the Maine though might we perhaps see the Philippines gaining their independence as the First Philippine Republic but being economically dominated by and within the US sphere of influence somewhat like Cuba rather than becoming an insular area?

I don't think that the Americans would have gone to war without an inciting incident. The war in Cuba was wrapping up anyway, the Spanish were growing war-weary and would have come to terms, especially in order to move more men to secure the Philippines. Whether that means Cuban self-autonomy or actual Cuban independence I don't know. The Americans were definitely on the side of the Cubans but I don't think enough to go to war with them.
