Magyars in Bulgaria?

What if the Magyars had won the Battle of Southern Buh? Would they have been able to conquer Bulgaria? What would the Byzantines be doing? Great Moravia was already in decline at this point, but could they restore their empire? Or would some other nation (Bohemia, HRE or even the Pechenegs) move into the area?

Just throwing out some questions...

The only problem with your POD is that this was a Bulgar attack on the Hungarians, not the other way around. Were the Hungarians to win, they might press the advantage by moving to attack Bulgaria's northeastern territory, but this would leave their homeland open to attacks by the Pechenegs, even more so than in OTL. So the Hungarians would retreat into Pannonia, because IIRC they did so to use the Carpathians as a shield from the Pechenegs, and Bulgaria just doesn't offer the same kind of protection.

A better POD would be for the Khazars to crush the Pechenegs when said tribe crossed the Ural river a few years previously. Without the Pechenegs, the Magyars would not be caught in a vice, and would have more time to attack Bulgaria in more depth, potentially leading to conquer.

Hmm somehow I missed that fact while reading the article on Wikipedia.

Ok, but would they even need to leave Etelkoz in this case? I was under the impression they they left because of attacks from the Pechenegs. I'm probably wrong about that. That would be an interesting POD, though, the Magyars never leave Ukraine...

Or how about if the Magyars defeat the Pechenegs when they invade Levedia around the year 850?
