Maczków 1990

Was just reading about how Haren, Germany at the end of World War II was turned into a Polish Enclave. They renamed the city Lwów (Later due to Soviet pressure they changed the name to Maczków). The enclave lasted until 1948.

What if the city stayed Polish? Maybe the West decides to use it as an example of how much better life in Poland would be under a non-communist regime. Their hope to win some Cold War points.

Would the Government in Exile move there? What would be the Soviet reaction. If the enclave started to prosper what would the West German reaction be? I can't imagine it would be good.

What happens if this oddity were to survive until the Iron Curtain falls?

Extremely unlikely. Western allies did not want to mess with USSR and the communist block at the time. They recognized communist government in Poland as a legitimate one. The Allies would have had to decide to confront USSR about breaking Yalta agreements (about free elections in Poland) and supply the town with food , fuel and other goods. Considering that after the war the British wanted Free Poles to leave for their country ASAP, because they considered them a burden for British economy, only Americans would have been able to do that, and they weren't that much interested.
After 1950 that might change, but it would be too late.

Yeah it would have to last a few more years to make it into the Cold War proper.

If it did I could also see USSR using it to make Germans anti-west
