MACLiner

Everyone knows that Britain was poor, and needed aircraft carriers in the build-up to WWII. Ocean liners made a profit, moreso if wealthy passengers could pop off a few 20mm rounds from the Oerlikons for a few quid during a voyage. They were fast enough to launch just about any aircraft, and were a tricky target for U-boats. Could passengers subsidize the road to victory?

No need to ditch at sea with a damaged plane, just plop into the pool and have the lifeguard fish the pilot out with a rescue pole....

Are the casino and lounges open to the crew - off duty of course....?

Good excuse to keep bigger shipyards and slipways working. How long before we see a "conversion" as extensive as the Commencement Bay class? :-D

There was a proposal to convert the Queen Elizabeth into a carrier at 1 point. There were also proposals to build liner/carriers in the 20s to speed up the Mail.

What a silly rescue! The rescued pilot, and any other flight crew may lounge in the crew hot tub or swim in the heated crew pool. The casino and lounges are both frequented by, and operated by the crew, as is the pub, gym/spa, and theater/dance hall.

The class system is still integral to the operation. Any crew caught pissing in the pool, swinging from any chandelier, or trying to mess with the Wren masseuse will be cast down to steerage with the Irishmen.

This is the proposal from 1923 for a Mail carrier liner.
So something based on a Pod where this design proposal is actual realized and built would do.
