In 1890, the Dutch king William III died. William III was King of the Netherlands, but also Grand Duke of Luxembourg. William III’s daughter Wilhelmina succeeded her father as Queen of the Netherlands, but not as Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, because only men were able to became Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
But what if this never happened? What if William III introduced a law in Luxembourg which includes that also women could become ruler of Luxembourg? This means Wilhelmina succeeds her father as Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, too.
What would have happened? What would be the differences in things like World War One, the Dutch history in the 20th century, and various other things?
Thoughts?
