Ludendorf Trips Over Sword

Date can vary, but what happens if Ludendorf is incapacitated or dies? How long would Hindenberg hold up without his CoS. who replaces who, and what are the implications for German strategy/outcomes?

Wonder woman would not mistake him for Ares.

Seriously. Wonder woman vs Ludendorf. First time I red the plot summary on Wikipedia, I laughed loud. Gimme Von Braun or Hitler as a nazi supervillain, or at worse, Professor Zundapp, but Ludendorf ?

Well, once they established they were doing it in WW1, I don't know what else they would have done. It's not like the centerpiece of this little picture was going to be too sympathetic:

That said, they could have had him at least resemble the actual General.

Remember, Hollywood has NEVER let a little
thing like the facts get in the way of a good
story.

Hindenburg and the German High Command won't get gassed, for one thing.
Several hours ago, I would not have understood this reference. :(

What about either Wilhelm Groener or Max Hoffman as Erich Ludendorff's replacement?

I was going to make a Wonder Woman joke but you just beat me to it; though the fact that Ludendorf is technically the antagonist of the film confuses me even though Ludendorf wasn't a nice guy so to say (awesome film though).

He had a certain influence at the beginning of WW1, and by that I mean taking Belgium's strongest fortress at Liege. Take this away, and the Germans will have trouble advancing in the west.

A better POD would be what would happen if his step-son was not killed in action in 1918, at the start of the Kaiserschlacht.
(Having lost the other in the previous year).
Its entirely possible he had a complete breakdown, he certainly had a morbid fascination with his son's corpse. Its more than possible that this effected his ability to command?

I never knew about that, how interesting!
Myself, I just wonder if someone other
than Ludendorff would have been rash
enough to do what he did in 1918 IOTL-
stake it all on a series of "win the war"
offensives, a strategy which may well have
cost Germany WWI.
