Love Thy Neighbour - A World Without Marx

I like this.

Early Christianity was very communist/socialist in its way. Of course, there is a difference between sharing all your goods for the next couple of years until the Second Coming, and having to provide for your children and grand children.

But, truly the 'Christian Right' of the US is an oxymoron. Christians OUGHT to be socialist, really, if we're really true to our faith. Of course, most of us aren't QUITE that true:)

We had a deacon preach one Sunday on 'If people call you a Communist for being a good Christian, that says good things about Communism', err... that's how it came out, anyway. Did NOT go over well, but the basic message he preached that day was correct. (Still, that was decades ago, and last I heard he'd been made a canon (I think it was)).

For that matter, who was the leader of the first Socialist government (of a regional polity) in North America? (the Rev.) Tommy Douglas. The whole Prairie Socialism movement was very Christian oriented.
