Louis Quatorzian Expansion

What is the greatest territorial extent that would have been possible for France under Louis XIV? By this, I mean, realistically speaking, if Louis XIV. had been even more fortunate than in OTL, how far could he have permanently extended French borders?

The POD isn't necessarily important, I'm just curious as to how much land France could have actually gotten away with gaining (and keeping) in the late seventeenth century? Was the Rhine as the eastern frontier even realistic? Could the French have managed to annex the whole of the Spanish Netherlands--or perhaps even much of the Dutch Republic, given a set of extremely favourable circumstances?

The problem with expansion for Louis is that his enemies - and they will grow as his frontiers do - will do their damnedest to keep him in check, and they're not fools.

A victory here, a defeat for someone else there, might do some good - but how much can be sustained is a difficult challenge for a state straining its human resources as hard as Louis's France.
