Looking for Resource to find soldiers at Arnhem

Evening all, I’m hoping to engage some of the excellent historical knowledge members have on here.

I’m an ex-serviceman in the British army and recently found from an elderly relative that my Great Uncle fought at Arnhem during Operation Market Garden and Italy before that.

I’d love to find out more about him unfortunately my google searches are getting hijacked by Robert Downey junior.

His name was Bob (Robert) Downer and lived in Newport on the Isle of Wight, he was a police officer after the war.

I’m still in the processing of quizzing my remaining elderly relatives so may find something, still any info you can send my way would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Do you know what unit he was with? If yes, try the Regimental History.
Do you know if he was captured? There is a database that shows information on British POWs: https://www.forces-war-records.co.uk/european-camps-british-commonwealth-prisoners-of-war-1939-45.
I was visiting a website during the summer that had a lot of information about the units and unit movements for the battle, unfortunately I can't remember the name of the site. I'll keep looking and if I come across I'll post it for you.

I found it. http://www.pegasusarchive.org/arnhem/frames.htm
