looking for a good alternate history scenario to turn into a book

hello folks, I have been loving this website, and I want to make a good alternate history scenario book for you guys to read and want your suggestions? I was thinking of starting with a world war two scenario with my own theory of what would happen.

Feel free to write a suggestion.

Acknowledging that I am unfamiliar with your particular interests I will nonetheless suggest that a fascinating scenario would be if the eighteen northern counties of Alabama had refused to leave the Union in the wake of the Secession Convention of 1861. All but one of the delegates from those counties voted against independence. A Union state in the Heart of Dixie. Sounds compelling to me although living in northern Alabama might color my perspective.

Interesting idea. Weren't there some similar feeling in Eastern Tennesse and Western North Carolina? Wasn't part of the dilemma that those areas were comparatively less populated than the other parts of their "home' state? Not enough political clout?

Do whatever you feel the most comfortable writing. If your World War II scenario is what you have the most excitement about, then go for it.

Yes. Andrew Johnson is a good example. Likely the majority of the southern Appalachian population was against secession. A little tweak here or there and we could have seen the state of West Carolina straddling the Smokies.

my next big question is, how do I go about writing this in a way that fascinates the reader? do I write it like a novel or write it like its a history of the world?
