Long term effects of a Republic of Australia

In 1999, Australia had a referendum for a Republic, and it failed. What if it succeeded??? I know little about the country, but I do know flag of TTL will look different. As a bonus, it will lack the racial connotations of the current flag OTL.

What makes you so sure they would change the flag?
Fiji abolished the monarchy but kept the Union Jack.

Well, Fiji's flag never had racial connotations. Rural white people in Australia have used the flag for racist reasons.

According to who?

Just to be clear, about 85-92% of Australians are 'white' European descendants and about 8-12% are of (east) Asian descent. There is little to no significant racial tension between these two biggest groups.

Here are some possible effects of Australia becoming a republic.

It will cause other Commonwealth Realms to think about abolishing the monarchy there to.
Papua New Guiana and the lesser Antilles realms are likely candidates.
New Zealand is a maybe, the monarchy is more popular there than in Australia.
Canada is a probable no.

Other than that it might make the Brexit vote swing the other way as Britain has been shown the door by the third wealthiest country in the commonwealth.
