Livonian Order wins Battle of the Ice

What if the Livonian Order had managed to defeat the Novgorod Republic at the Battle of the Ice?

My two cents:

They likely would have taken Pskov, which was extremely important the the terms of the eastern crusades. It is likely crusading activities in the area would have continued, especially seeing as how Novogorod is now weaker then before. The Teutonic Knights will likely establish eventual dominance over the Baltic. The Mongols will also likely have a much more poweful control over much of Russia.

How excacly one win (and eventuall conquer of Pskov) made Teutonic Order into a great power

Btw at the battle on Peipus lake Novgorod fought against the bishop of Dorpat with only a few Teutonic knights present and it had little effect on the activities of the Livonian Order.

The reason why they lost that battle is because they fight on a ice. The Livonian Order knihts armor and weapons was to heavy to fight on a ice and Russians got lighter armor and weapons. Most of the Livonian Order knihts just sink. That means they could not win this battle, at least on ice.

Well, and the Russians knew that. I'm sure the Russians wouldn't engage them except in terrain that was very advantageous.

what exactly was the Livonian Order? The old Russian movie "Alexander Nevsky" implies that the Russians fought the Teutonic Knights and their Grand Master directly (yeah, I know, old movie, not a reliable historical source)....

the Livionian Order was a group of Teutonic Knights that had control over what is now Lithuania, they controled it until about 1560 when it was absorbed by Poland and made into a duchy so it was out of Russian hands. I had control of the Livonian Order in the 1493TL...if you go over there you can see what i did with it...though a little bit opposite of what you want to do.:D

but to get on topic i think even at this point the Novgorod Republic is still to strong for the Livonian Order to defeat, just postpone the inevitable that they come under either Russian, Polish or Danish influance

Germanic Knightly order in the Baltic that was eventually split up amongst Russia and Poland-Lithuania. The last Grand Master of the Order became the Duke of Courland, iirc.

The Livonian Order was branch of the Teutonic Order (former Order of the Sword Brethren). AFAIK there were no official of the Order at that battle.

If Livonian Order wins this battle, Estonia is larger now
The battle was fought in the final stage of the war and IMO only possible consequence would be delayed peace.

Well, I guess, technically they also were Germanic, but...;)

From what i've read, they were originally seperate from the Teutonic Knights, known as the Brothers of the Sword. In 1236, they were defeated badly by Lithuanians and, as a result, in 1237 became an autonomous branch of the Teutonic Knights.
