"Dearest Ingrid, Life on the Front lines is -------------------- the food is ----------------- but the lads aren't to bad. Most of 'em are from South Africa, places like that. A few ------- but mostly their all whiteys. We push against the reds tomorrow. We'll be covering a small town on the German border. Name of Sedan. Shouldn't be any trouble though, I just feel sorry for the poor bastards in front."

The Screaming 40's
The end of the second world war seemed to many to be more of a merciful end to a nasty, filthy, dirty conflict. In fact it would be one of the most defining moments in World history, all because somewhere in the middle of the forests outside Sedan someone pressed a button. On the 21st of may 1944 A German V-2 Rocket was shepherded into the forests of Sedan. It was not an unusual occurrence though passing British spy planes might have noted an unusually large garrison accompanying the Rocket composed mainly of anti-Air infantry and tanks. Five hours later a V-2 Rocket in the middle of Sedan would launch the worlds first Atomic Bomb. It would sail across Britain and land on the sleepy city of Colchester during the early hours of the morning. The area was absolutely decimated. Premier Winston Churchill declared a day of national mourning and the flag was raised at half mast. British bombers were ordered to launch revenge attacks on German cities, thousands died in the raging inferno that would be western Germany in the latter half of world war two, Churches were flooded with people utterly shocked about what had happened. But as soon as the shock of what had happened wore off the People's minds turned to revenge! And Churchill and his allies were only to happy to oblige.

Germany was utterly swept from the face of the Earth as Russo-American forces descended on the German State. Hitler committed suicide, The Soviet Union occupied the country and America finished off the last few Nazi soldiers fleeing West. The slaughter of German Soldiers was immense, the Red Army operated on a shoot to kill everything policy and it was believed that Stalin's haphazardly formed "Death or Glory" Red Guard battalions killed so many German males that the German populace has never truly recovered even to this day. Allied bombing also destroyed ancient and beautiful cities such as Berlin, Dresden, Munich, Vienna and many others. But when the chimes of victory sang out, even most ardent German nationalists were jubilant.
Officially this was a triumph for the allies. Jubilant celebrations took place across the continent, from the Liberated Ghetto in Warsaw to the down and dirty streets of Rome all celebrated the Emancipation of Europe from Fascism. However behind closed doors the strong men of Europe plotted and planned for the next great nation smashing war. It would be set in place by Churchill shortly before he left office. A terrifying plan nicknamed Operation Unthinkable, the Invasion of the Soviet Union.
The plan called for former Nazi Scientists under American custody be turned over to Britain to assist in the creation of an atomic bomb that would, if necessary, be dropped on "any violent communist or fascist state that threatened Anglo-American security". The project was an enormous success, within weeks the scientists had started to build the Allie's first nuclear weapon, a device so powerful it could destroy an army in the blink of an eye. American military planners were informed of the plan for operation unthinkable and they said it would be feasible but only in the few months after the war when the Soviet Union's economy and military would be reeling from the war. Washington DC approved the Plan and moved American forces from the Far Eastern Theatre into Allied occupied France and Belgium. Weaponry of all new devastating kinds was created and readied for deployment on the new Soviet Front. The German and Japanese scientists working on Atom bombs deep within bunkers in London and New York were called to hurry the production of these weapons along so as to be ready for the deadline. On the eve of the Operation Unthinkable Churchill appeared on British and American radio to make the following announcement:

"During the Past few years I have lead this country against Fascists. Each one of you has been heroic in your sacrifice to keep Britain free from said fascists. But now a new fascist threat rears her ugly head from across the Great Caspian sea. She gallops across the Eurasian Steppe. She is Red Fascism. She is Stalinist Bolshevism. Stalinism has spread human regimentation from Riga in the Baltic, to Belgrade in the Adriatic. I for one cannot let the Reds continue to punish these states that have labored so long under the weight of Nazist tyranny. That is why, sadly, our bombers have just launched a surprise attack on several major Russian cities. The Second War as we know it is over. The Third World War is about to begin."
