List of Titles of the US President

Suppose the US Presidency accumulated dozens of different titles like a monarchy... This's basically like the other list games, except we aren't listing names of Presidents but their titles, and we're giving brief explanations of how they got them. Put the new part in bold text so we don't mess it up. So:

1789: "President of the United States and Protector of their Liberties." The Senate reluctantly assents to John Adam's urging that the President needs a more respectful title.

1789: "President of the United States and Protector of their Liberties." [1]
1814: "President of the United States, Protector of their Liberties, and Guardian of the Republic." [2]

A big mess in Hawaii is finally straightened out, and Congress finally votes for annexation after the abdication of the royal family, and the president becomes Hawaii's official head of state. They keep the word "Kingdom of Hawaii" in Hawaiian so less people notice that he's president of a kingdom.

The big messes in Haiti and the Dominican Republic get even worse. When the US Army comes in, Wilson decides to keep it there. (It doesn't help that Europe is embroiled in the Great War, and the British Navy is rumored to be lurking offshore.) The island isn't formally annexed... yet.
