How about from 1995 onwards
Bret Hart defeats Diesel Royal Rumble 1995
Sid defeat Bret Hart, King of the Ring 1995
Diesel defeats Sid, Summer Slam 1995
British Bulldog defeats Diesel Survivor Series 1995
Shawn Michaels defeats British Bulldog, WMXII.
Vader defeats Shawn Michaels Summer Slam 1996
Shawn Michaels defeats Vader, Royal Rumble 1997.
Title vacated-Final Four won by Bret Hart
British Bulldog defeats Bret Hart, Monday Night Raw, Feb ‘97
Undertaker defeats British Bulldog WMXIII
Vader defeats Undertaker, King of the Ring 1997
Bret Hart defeats Vader Summer Slam 1997
Shawn Michaels “defeats” Bret Hart Survivor Series 1997
......and then we go to OTL.

The disastrous 1995 Diesel reign is avoided, Vader gets exposed as limited for real and no one can complain that he was misused. 1996 sees WWF actually being competitive as opposed to the boring ass “Shaaawwn Michaeeeels” domination they actually pulled.

Most importantly Davey Boy gets a couple of titles. He deserved them. He wound never be able to be the top man in a Company but he was able to be an excellent transitional Champion, work first rate matches and put top tier talent over.
