List of Alternate Monarchs and Aristocratic Lineage II

Since we're only five pages from the end of the first thread, I thought I'd take the initiative to post another thread where people can post their thoughts/ideas on Alternate Monarchs and Aristocratic Lineage....

Feel free to finish up the first thread first, though!

Am copying @Jonathan 's original post from the start of the first thread to give some guidance for anyone who might need it :)

List can be as long or short as you like, with as many or as least foot note information that you would like to give. Also similar to the "LaPMoP" the list does not have to be based solely on an alternative event, it could be an analogy or could be slightly/completely ASB.

They can be formatted into a bullet point list or into a family tree. I hope that these list will help the writers get ideas out that they haven't formed full time lines with and encourage others to look into expanding their knowledge on aristocratic lineage and candidate branches, as well as just the main stream royal families

I know that it the last site, we had a "Monarch List" thread that turned into a game between people, who ended up posting make either a national hero or evil dictatorial villain, with numerous different people attributing to a single list.

I have post this in "Before 1900" due to this is the period in which monarch and aristocratic titles were created, however similar to the "LaPMoP" you can go after this time, for example:
In 1955, Winston Churchill accepts the offer of a Dukedom
List of Dukes of London
1955-1965: Winston Churchill, 1st Duke of London
1965-1968: Randolph Churchill, 2nd Duke of London
1968-2010: Winston Churchill, 3rd Duke of London
2010- : Randolph Churchill, 4th Duke of London

So without any more gassing, please begin posting.

  1. Who became King of France after Henri III’s death?
  2. Does the Dutch Republic still revolt against Burgundian rule?
  3. Do the Habsburgs have any ruling branches outside of Germany?
  4. Is Lithuania in a personal union with Poland as of the early 17th century?

Richard, Duke of Gloucester marries Cecily Bonville intead. Lets say Thomas Grey dies at Tewekesbury and Anne Neville dies in childbirth with Edward of Lancaster's stillborn baby.

  3. Do the Habsburgs have any ruling branches outside of Germany?
  4. Is Lithuania in a personal union with Poland as of the early 17th century?

1. You'll see - the Alençons are up next.
2. No. While Protestantism does spread to Burgundy among the common people, the situation is different, since the Burgundian monarch is not some foreigner ruling from over 1000 km away, but is right there in Mechelen, and there is no Duke of Alba around to make a bad situation worse. So there'd probably be some unrest and rioting, but not a full-scale revolt.
3. Not as of the 17th century. That might change later, or not.
4. No. they still convert to Catholicism somewhere in the 15th century, but they don't unite with Poland, though they are close to it. They also have much less land than in OTL, since there are still strong russian principalities in Kiev and Smolensk. Its borders are still mostly the Lithuanian borders before Algirdas's conquests.

  1. What are the Bourbons known for if they are not Kings of France?
  2. Was Swabia divided up between Albert II and Ulrich I into separate duchies?
  3. Who are the main colonizers of the new world as of the early 17th century?
  4. Was Spain able to expand into North Africa following the Reconquista?
  5. Who became the first independent King of Provence?

1. Important French nobility, and next in line to inherit France in case the Alençons die out entirely.
2. No, they were all sharing the same title but on different portions of land - it wouldn't be until after Frederick XII that you start to have formal divisions for lesser sons, like Swabia-Toggenburg or Swabia-Luzern, for example.
3. Spain, Portugal, England, France, Burgundy, and to a lesser degree, Denmark-Norway, Sweden and Scotland.
4. Only on some cities on the coast.
5. Strictly speaking, nobody - the counts of Provence inherit the Dauphinate of Viennois, start styling themselves as Dauphins of Provence and remain doing so.
