Lincoln's widow a powerful voice?

I have heard it said that Mary Todd Lincoln had mental health problems even before her husband's murder. I have also heard it said that during her husband' presidency the Kentucky lady became something of an abolitionist from talking to her 'colored' seamstress

I also know that Lincoln had been interesed in other women.

Is it imaginable either with different events in Mary's life or a different Mrs Lincoln that the slain man's widow might have had a loud and powerful voice in favor of the rights of former slaves?

Obviously she would not be able to formerly take part in politics (she would only have been able to vote at all if she had moved to Wyoming territory in 1869).
