Like Mother, Like Son: An Alternate History of American Politics.

OK... This is NOT going to go in much detail, sorry to let you down, its more like the "TL-in-a-day", only longer in time and span.

It however, will be very interesting. :D

The PoD is deliberately obscure, just to remind you of that. America is a parliamentary monarchy, and a dominion of Britain. Canada's split off due to strong anti-Catholic feelings and Britain wanting to weaken the potential dominion.

If I feel like it, or a lot of you demand, I'll go in other stuff, like culture and all that.

OK? :) Or you don't want it? :(

LIKE MOTHER, LIKE SON: THE STORY OF AMERICAN POLITICS

Benjamin Franklin, 1st Prime Minister of the American Commonwealth.

As America is currently under a Conservative-Libertarian coalition, it is prudent to look at the history of American politics. Let us go all the way back to the first election, that of 1789...

Three parties emerged in the months before the election, the American party, supporting a stronger central government and loyalty to Britain, the Respect party, supporting provincial rights and a review of the relation with Britain, and the Anti-Parliamentarian Party, supporting outright secession from the Empire. Radicalism was in the air, as many was disappointed with the new government and wanted more independence from Britain. Benjamin Franklin, the leader of the American Party, spoke out against radicalism and republicanism in his famous speech made on the 1st of May, later to be known as the "May Day Declaration". This turned the swing voters against the Respect and Anti-Parliamentarian Parties and ensured the Americans won a majority.

1789 AC GENERAL ELECTION (TOTAL: 145)

American: 83
Respect: 40
Anti-Parliamentarian: 22

Subsequent Prime Minister: Benjamin Franklin

Government: American majority

Nice to see some anti-cliché US parties. I hope you make them believable within an 18th century context. But given your knowledge of 18th century North America, you will probably do fine. :)

Thanks! :D This is mostly based around my quick list and my election results. Of course, some PMs are going to be altered and some leaders switched out.

I wish you luck TB, If you need any info on postbellum to before WWI politics, I can do some research.:).

Thanks. Obviously, its' going to be quite different, but I'll appreciate the research! Update today after I go to bed, wake up and do a schoolday.

Alright. Since my mind's a little dizzy and I won't have enough time to update this regularly, I'll try to get an update every weekend, is that OK? :(

New one? I'd say, i am not very interested (if at all) in american politics, but since its a TB production, i might as well follow it.

Awww, you even got a wikibox. :D

Yeah, i suppose now you want some serious feedback as well eh?

Alright, so apparently, the same days when the French were revolting and storming the Bastille, the murricans were still under British rule. May i inquire just how did this happen? Did the tariffs decrease, did the King grant further autonomy, or something? As a sidenote... how exactly did Franklin, with one speech, manage to win so many votes and outvote his political opponents? Considering the fact that in the vast majority of the pseudo-democratic institutions of the West, the outcome of an election is predetermined, i just can't see one speech changing anything.

Fine with me, miss.

Just watch the plausibility, some of the bigger butterflies and keep it interesting and I'll be satisfied. ;)

Well, up until some point in the past, TB enjoyed spraying some serious pesticides all over the butterflies. Though i very much liked it that way. Raised far more questions, questions that could be answered.
