With a pod around early March 2011, what if NATO did not directly intervene during the civil war in Libya ? Instead what if they chose to intervene by funneling huge amounts of weapons including small arms, heavy machine guns, RPGs, anti aircraft weaponry and some light vehicles as well as medical supplies and training rather than implement a no fly zone ?
So what are your thoughts on this ? Would Gaddafi forces easily push eastwards and overrun Benghazi and the east ? or would the extra weapons and training lead to a stalemate that would last years with Libya divided between east and west ?
Would Gaddafi's army finally be stopped when they reached Benghazi, with defected army units and the "Free Libyan Air Force" giving them a hard time, allowing the rebel army to counter attack and advance along the coast towards Ajdabiya and the oil ports of Brega and Ras Lanuf ?
Thoughts on this ?
