It would be interesting to see bothe the Libertarian party become a major party and the Progressive party become a major player, possibly after Roosevelt's bid for president is successful. Then a four party system could arise with republicans being socially and fiscally conservative, democrats who are socially and fiscally liberal, progressives being fiscally liberal but socially conservative, and the libertarians being fiscally conservative but socially liberal. I personally think that would be a better system than the current two-party system.

It's highly improbable for that to happen due to Duverger's Law.
