Okay, last time I tried to do an alternate history for ideologies, is was about totalitarianism and... well, it didn't really work out. But, the main point of that was to try to take an ideology that is not only hated, but is also relatively fringe in OTL, and make in a ATL considered a mainstream ideology that is popular enough for a party to run on.
Here, I ask a different question. Is it possible for an ideology that is considered not only mainstream, but practically defines modern political discourse to be hated and despised like Fascism in an another time? In this case, the ideology is liberalism. Not democracy, as it's at least theoretically possible to have democracy without liberalism, but rather liberalism considered to be a fringe ideology which only extremists buy into, like Totalitarianism or Fascism today.
