Let's mock Stalin

It occurred to me that had Stalin kept calling himself Koba, he would have been Comrade Koba.
This can be shortened to Coko. The leader of the 20th centuries most brutal dictatorship is known abroad, as Coko. Just think about that.

That is all.

1) Stalin only was referred to as/referred to himself as Koba around a very, very tight circle of intimates.

2) The "Coko" joke only works in English: "Comrade" in Russian is "Tovarishch."

1) Several of his pamphlets, articles and other works had Koba as his first name. Not to mention he had originally adopted the name whilst in Georgia, so I'm sure some of his asscociates from back then would remember it.
2) Yeah, as I said "known abroad". Americans would have caught onto it first more than lilely.

Guys... the Koba thing was more widespread than just a few friends, it was Stalin's title, it was from an old Georgian story, he took it as an alias so people could remember his name when they heard of his exploits.

Thank you.

I actually had a biography of Stalin in my hand when I made this. I had ammo at the ready :D

Sounds like a Nintendo villain.

So instead of 'Uncle Joe'

According to Churchill, Stalin nearly blew an artery at the Cairo conference when he learned that the US government was referring to him as "Uncle Joe."

Apparently Churchill thought the reason was obvious enough it didn't need to be explained, but I never did understand why Stalin felt so insulted.

The alias was known, but nobody called Stalin "Koba" once he was Stalin.--that was reserved for old friends from his days as a Caucasian bandit (the ones he left alive, anyways). An average Soviet citizen would never refer to Stalin as "Koba" even in passing, and it would just confuse the outside world.

Joseph, on the other hand, has an equivalent in basically every language has come up with its own version of Josephine nicknames.

He thought it was insultingly familiar/intimate for an entire country to be referring to him in such a way. It'd be like addressing the office buzzkill as "Bro" right to his face.

If Stalin was sent to Siberia and froze to death there, he'd be an ice cold Koba Cola.
