Less Political interference during the Franco-Prussian War

Hello, I am a new member and I have been reading these forums for awhile now. I finally got the courage to post a question now.

I am reading Franco-Prussian War by Mark Howard for a college book critique and to me the author makes it clear that much of the french mishaps during the war was caused more by political decisions instead of military mishaps.

For example the Empress pressured Napoleon III to take personal command of the french army which caused a lot of the mobilization to be thrown off balance. They put in command of an army a french general who was in charge of the ill-fated french intervention army in Mexico and often times they influence a lot of the french armies position so that they stood in between Paris and the German armies, which at times were very bad positions for the armies to be in.

My question is that is it possible for their to be less political interference during the war? and if so what would have been the consequences of such action?

It doesn't necessarily have to be a "France wins!" scenario or a "Prussia still wins!" but it can also be a longer war scenario.
