Hi. I'm not new tothis website, but smewhat new to this forum. I've been contempilating ideas, and lately, have been drawn to this simple question: What would have happened had Henry VIII, Defender of the Faith as proclaimed by Pope Leo, have had a living son, until his death? That is what I have been trying ot figure out. Now, I'm hoping to make a timeline out of this, and help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
The Birth of Prince Henry, Duke of Cornwall
The marriage between Henry VIII of England and his recently widowed sister in law, Catherine of Aragon, lasted only eighteen months before the newly born Henry was born on January 1, 1511. is older sister from before had been born premature, and stillborn (as per OTL). Immediately following his birth, he was proclaimed Duke of Cornwall. His parents were both overjoyed for his birth, and much was planned in the way of raising the child. In OTL he passed on to the next life in 22 February 1511, but in this ATL, he remained simply sickly and feeble, but still very much alive.
Henry VIII is overjoyed for his son's birth, immediately entitles his son with lavish titles, especially Duke of Cornwall. The New Years Boy, as he was known by the English populace, loved him upon his birth. His mother, sickly from the birth, remained in bed, praying constantly. The couple's love grew even more after Henry was born, to the delight of the populace. THe New Years Boy remains rather sickyl ,to the worry of Henry and Catherine. However, their fears are blown away following the passing of 5 months with no signs of the Boy's imminent death.
