When Trotsky returned from negotiations with the Germans on February 22, 1918, he and many of the Bolsheviks still wanted to continue the war with Germany. Unlike many of hist comrades, Lenin wanted to end the war at all costs. What if Lenin dies at a most inopportune time and isn't able to force Trotsky and the pro-war Bolsheviks to end the war?
