Len Bias Story

I feel like I'm the only person that doesn't think that the league getting "watered down" was a bad thing. So many more guys are important and more guys get the chance to show what they're made of. There's a reason that as many teams have won championships in the past five years as they did in all of the '90s or something like that.

Yeah, that's what I thought when it first started. And then I saw some of the guys who were playing. Look at it this way. Ervin Johnson, Luc Longley, Mark West, and Greg Ostertag were starting centers on NBA finals teams. John Starks was the 2nd best player on an NBA finals team. Contrast that to any finals team in the 80s - Pistons, Trailblazers, Lakers, Celts, Sixers. Only the Rockets looked like a 90s team and they were surprise finals teams. Better balance on a team makes for a better game. At least that's my opinion.

I think talent, and the influx of foreigners has balanced out the league better now and I think you see a better quality of play - Barkley and all the other old farts be damned. Again, my 2 cents, YMMV.

So which duo would be able to defeat Jordan/Pippen and Wilson/Miller.
Bias/Hardaway or Bias/Kemp

I think you are being a bit presumptuous about Ben Wilson. Scouting and training/development wasnt nearly as advanced back in those days as it is now. There were a lot of guys who were so supposed to be the next great player coming out of high school that ended up being so-so to good in the NBA. Pearl Washington, Rex Chapman, JR Reid, Marcus Liberty, Terry Mills, Felipe Lopez, and Billy Owens are a few examples that come to mind. I've only seen a few clips of Wilson so I dont really know how his game would have translated to the NBA. But I am guessing that its anything between Bias and Billy Owens - point being I am not try to dismiss him as Owens was a solid pro and excellent college player (made the cover of SI as frosh at Syracuse IIRC) but nobody writes a TL about him either.

One other nitpick about the Pacers is they already had Chuck Person, who was a very, very good player. They might take Smits over Wilson rather than overload on the wings (see the Bucks in the 1999 draft when they passed on Paul Pierce because they had Dog and Allen). I'm not saying it's what they should do but rather what they might do. YMMV.

Good points. I have seen a lot of Wilson's games and at the PG position he played like Magic Johnson. However if Rik Smits does go over him do Philadelphia take him and keep him? Causing a Barkley/Wilson tandem? Nets? Golden State?

Also to at least compete with Jordan. Which duo is better? Bias/Hardaway or Bias/Kemp

Sixers take Wilson creating a formidable duo with Barkley.

I take Bias and Hardaway.

So I watched some footage of Wilson and I dont see the Magic comparison. He actually reminded me most of Reggie Williams (Georgetown) with a better jumper and stronger. Depending on how good his outside shot could be, maybe Sean Elliott. Maybe go really old school and compare him to the Ice Man, George Gervin. I have a feeling there is a better comparison but its eluding me right now.

Benji was silk smooth around the basket.
