League of Nations + No WWII = ...?

hey, i was thinking about the possibility of the league of nations, or a similar entity, existing in my TL. in said timeline, WWI is on a very reduced scale in which the war is only between serbia, its immediate allies (the balkan states have been previously corralled into a trade union by russia), and austria-hungary. the war ends when russia joins a few years in on the side of the balkan trade union and austria surrenders a short while afterwards. germany is non-existant in this TL, instead being part of france. because there was no humiliated germany and no treaty of versailles, there's no WWII as we know it

first) following such a war, what are the possibilities of a LoN-like entity appearing, and second) how long would such an entity persist? specifically, im looking for if it would persist longer than it did IOTL, as far as to 2032

I don't think there would be much reason to have a League of Nations, although eventually a UN-like body would form, just like OTL.

i see. any ideas as to when a UN-like entity would appear, what it could be called (if anything different from United Nations), and where it would be based? just for the record, the US is still a superpower nation ITTL, but it shares that level of prestige with britain, france, russia, and china (at the moment; its still subject to change)

If the world powers are more equal then the UN would happen faster in my opinion. It would probably depend on when the atom bomb is invented. As soon as more than two countries have nuclear weapons, it will be created; if nukes aren't built fast enough then it could be anytime. With no world wars it might take until the late 20th century for it to appear.

I think the League would evolve to something similar to our UN. Where is the PoD, has the League disasters called Manchuria and Ethiopia happened?

Remember LoN was a pioneer on international human right issues, but very weak when it came to conflict solutions, or anything else that had to do with conflicts for that matter.

well thats where some complications arise; theres several PODs for each of the dozen or so world powers that results in the world at the time. leading up to the LoN, there's:

  1. france dominating the greater part of western europe (but not the british isles)--this is why theres no germany ITTL. italy is also pro-french
  2. austria-hungary persisting (in some respects, it takes germany's place IOTL; my plan is to make austria-hungary persist as a world power--but not a superpower--through to 2032)
  3. the US has more land to its name (but that's not as relevent to the creation of the LoN since they never get involved in the "Austro-Serbian War", though im certain theyd be admitted at some point because of their power)
  4. a less balkanized balkan peninsula--there's still some tensions between member states (theyre in a trade union, but not one nation), so i imagine that serbia would initially be all alone against austria but later be joined by other balkan states; a pro-british greece may be able to stay out of the war entirely because britain is a significant world power that austria wouldnt want to mess with
  5. a significant change to russian history, with the romanovs remaining in power at least for a while longer (maybe into the 30s) before being officially deposed or being made into constitutional monarchs, so the soviet union phase is skipped over entirely and the russian empire goes straight to being the russian federation. internal conflicts with the bolsheviks and other communist factions could be what prevents russia from helping the BTU earlier, with austria-hungary giving aid to the communists like they did in TL-191 (though to a similar result)
those are the ones i see as being relevent to the ATL WW1 and the LoN. if the LoN immediately follows the "Austro-Serbian War", i can see russia and the balkan states as being founding members, along with countries theyre more closely allied or friendly to, so britain would be included while other countries like france and america would join later. if it comes later, then it would probably be the biggest powers at the time--probably america, britain, france, russia, china and/or japan--being the founding members while other countries--austria, china/japan, italy, portugal, and the aztec empire--joining at later times (aztecs would probably join sooner because theyre pretty chummy with the americans ITTL, just for the record)

any idea on what the date for the LoN's creation could be? the war between austria and serbia starts when it did IOTL, and i was planning for it to go on to when russia historically backed out (since the bolsheviks lose here, this is when russia would fully join in on the war)

DPFAR:

i decided to go ahead and start developing my TL's LON. i decided to transfer a fair amount of the policies and principles of the UN to them and make it so that they are formed following the ATL WW1 by eight countries: the British Empire (which picked up on the idea after learning about it from Greece), the Russian Empire (later Russian Federation, which first proposed the idea but was very imperialistic and pro-Russian about it), Austria-Hungary (their new leader, Charles I, decided it was in austria's best interest that they join), and five members of the balkan trade union: bosnia, bulgaria, greece (which is pro-british), serbia, and wallachia (the last monarchy in the BTU). by the present day, all but two countries on earth (the commonwealth of the bahamas and switzerland) are members of the LON, though the LON HQ is in zurich because of switzerland's traditional neutrality (and switzerland wanted to cash in on tourism)

there's actually very few real states ITTL, with most of them being empire-unions and superstates that cover very large territories. i decided one aspect is that different member states, depending on how large they are, get more representation in the LON by allowing colonies and dependencies to be represented semi-seperately from their governing body (ex: australia eventually gets representation seperate from the british empire)

i made a few changes to the security council, too. the function is still the same, but there are only eight seats. three of them belong to permanent members of the security council (britain, russia, and america; britain and russia were the strongest founding members and the US was given a pemanent seat when it joined, too), one always goes to a member of the BTU, and the other four USUALLY go to france, spain, austria, and japan (though, of course, other countries would get in there, too, like the aztec empire and portugal)

Without Germany, there's no WWI, without WWI, there's no USA involvment in Europe, therefore there's no LoN. No Scenario.

Without the USA in WWI, a LoN is rather unlikely. However, with a bloodier WWI where neither the Allies or the Entente make any major break throughs, there is the foundation for a Europe LoN.
