League of Nations international coalition against Japan

What if the League of Nations secured the peace by militarily dealing with the situation in Asia? Sort of like the OTL Korean War, the fighting is limited to kicking Japan out of Manchuria and nothing more. Britain leads to coalition, with France, the Netherlands, Turkey, Portugal, and perhaps a few others joining in. The US sends monetary aid but doesn't fight.

How does the League proving it isn't toothless affect history?
