LBJ runs and wins in 1968?

What if LBJ had won the 1968 presidential election? Perhaps verging on the ASB, but not entirely impossible

My question is what would LBJ do in a third term?

Equally, given that in OTL he died of a heart attack two days after the end of the 1969-73 presidential term, its highly likely that with the stress of the Presidency he would die at some point during that term, with Humphrey (unless he ditches him as his running mate) succeeding him as the 37th President of the United States?

The only way this happens is if he doesn’t get involved in Vietnam

I agree. With a POD of 1965, if LBJ decides to cut his losses in Vietnam and not directly intervene, he would probably win in 1968. Nixon would hammer him for the fall of Saigon and the rioting that occurred in the late 1960s. But given that Humphrey nearly beat Nixon without the war, as an incumbent President during a strong economy LBJ would beat Nixon without it.

Only way would be that LBJ either avoids VIetnam or handle that much better. So his presidency would look very different compared to OTL.
