Law and Order cancelled after one season...

Suppose "Law and Order" had failed after just one season; the effect on NBC would be dramatic in a negative way. Though I'm sure NBC had many other series in development that could have been big hits.

No spinoffs "Special Victims Unit" or "Criminal Intent".

Jerry Orbach didn't sign on till third season so his career would have been affected. Same goes for Mariska Hartigey and Chris Meloni.

I would be very sad. SVU is one of my favorite shows ever. I have seasons 1-9 on DVD and waiting to get 10.

Stephanie March for the win......
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I was wondering when I would see a TL that was minor in the grand scheme of things. Despite this, this would have profound impact on the actors, crew and their families; not to mention the loss of revenue Law and Order generated for NBC and the advertisers. Law and Order failing might also prevent the rise of other cop drama shows; these shows have had the cultural effect of many people believing there are far more police and lawyers out there, and that they succeed in the capture and prosecution of criminals more often then they do in reality. In edition to the viewers taking a more sympathetic view of the police and DAs (not to imply they don't deserve sympathy; I just know friends who after watching an episode, will side with the "morally gray" actions of cops and prosecutors without question, and sometimes find myself doing the same as well).

No Law, no Order.

I would be sad too.

That is/was one the best shows around; Especially when everything works well together: acting, directing and scripts.

Come on, guys. Nuclear war, Nazis in control of the world, I can handle all that. That's fine.
But really? You're going to come on here and mess up my weekend by putting this dark apocalyptic vision in my head? Good lord...

And Criminal Intent with Jeff Goldblum doesn't start till my birthday...
