Latinized East Africa

I suspect the model used in a Romanisation of East Africa would more likely look like a mix of the spread of the Greeks and Phoenicians and early European colonialism. We would see the Romans setting trading post along the coast, these would later develop into Greek style colony city states, here they would just swear alliagence to Rome. We would likely see a thin coastal belt between these city colonies end up Roman territory. The Romans would mix with local woman and slaves would get citizenship, so the population would be Black Romans quite fast. Because the colonization would happen through the eastern Mediterranean, the languages these colonies would speak would be Greek not Latin, so the Creole language which would develop would be based on Greek. I could see these city states survive, but we will likely see them develop into a kind of East African medieval Italy after Constantinoble no longer can keep its overlordship of them.

I highly recommend reading "Eurafricans" and it's prelude "Landlords and Strangers" to get a better idea of some form of African economics and interaction with foreign people's.
