In otl, Argentina Brazil and Chile were considered up and coming nations on the world stage. Unfortunately, the great depression among other issues such as poor governance and corruption had weakened them significantly.

What if they had managed to prosper?

Perhaps they could create counter-balance for United States in Latin America. Perhaps not exactly cold war but American influence might be smaller and perhaps there wouldn't be so much left-wing radicalism.
