Let's say Senator John McCain of Arizona wins the Republican nomination in the Republican Party Presidential Primaries of 2000 over Governor George W. Bush of Texas, but loses the United States Presidential Election of 2004 against Vice President Al Gore. Because John McCain is at the top of the Republican National Ticket and Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut was known for being John McCain's friend, Al Gore selects a different New Englander as his vice presidential nominee, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, whom helps Gore carry New Hampshire.

Some things that I believe would take place during Al Gore's presidency are, Gore continuing his predecessor's economic policies, delaying the economic collapse until 2011-2012; and Gore taking Clinton's advice regarding al-Qaeda and Osama bin-Laden, thus preventing the September 11th, 2001 Terrorist Attacks and there being no Invasion of Afghanistan (the War in Afghanistan is relatively similar to what Barack Obama did to combat ISIL in OTL 2014, rather than OTL's full-scale invasion).

George W. Bush, setting his sights on the Presidency, decides not to run for re-election in the Texas Gubernatorial Election of 2002, instead stepping aside for Lieutenant Governor Rick Perry. George W. Bush easily wins the Republican nomination in the Republican Party Presidential Primaries of 2004, and goes on to defeat President Al Gore in the United States Presidential Election of 2004, because of Democratic fatigue. Bush wins re-election in the United States Presidential Election of 2008 over Former Vice President John Kerry (Representative Ed Markey wins a Special Election for Kerry's Senate seat in November 2001, and is elected in his own right in the United States Senate Election in Massachusetts of 2002). How differently would George W. Bush's presidency be than OTL? Who would he select as his vice presidential nominee? I had Former Governor Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania in mind because, Ridge's moderate stances balance Bush's conservatism. Ridge would also help Bush carry Ohio and make Pennsylvania close. Would the United States still invade Iraq in this scenario? If the United States still invades Iraq, is it possible they would intervene in the Syrian Civil War, instead of the Libyan Civil War in ATL 2011?

How might the Democratic Party Presidential Primaries and Republican Party Presidential Primaries of ATL 2012 look? With Al Gore being an unpopular incumbent president, Senator Peter Fitzgerald of Illinois might run for re-election. Whether he wins against Obama is moot. I suspect Senator Hillary Clinton of New York and Former Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts would run for their respective nominations. How would a Clinton Vs. Romney Race look?
