Largest (and smallest) possible Manitoba

Interested in different scenarios. I know maybe MB could guest the Red River, but I'm primarily interested in inside OTL's borders for Canada.

The smallest Manitoba would be the 'postage stamp sized' province of 1871. The largest would be the entire Rupertsland territory.

Well, I guess it may depend on the POD, but if Manitoba were to remain a province, the best scenario I can think of is one where it stretches to either the 104th or 105th meridian; it would be huge at that point, but would still reliably fit within the Central Time Zone. Although if you wanted a Manitoba that took the entire Rupert's Land territory, a la FWoAN, you might need to come up with a scenario in which Manitoba somehow manages to become a country totally independent from Canada.....which can be done, but might well require a POD prior to 1867.

Manitoba could easily have been awarded the western portion of OTL Ontario in 1889, instead of it going to Ontario. The entire area might as well be part of Manitoba even today. The people living there are oriented towards Manitoba, not the rest of Ontario.

Are you thinking west of Sudbury or including that area in Manitoba as well?

This is the area disputed between Ontario and Manitoba. It was awarded to Ontario in OTL.
