Language AHC - Gallo-Iberian Romance

Not sure whether such a language already exists though the challenge is to establish a Gallo-Iberian language, basically a language that can be very loosely defined as Frespañol in a similar manner to how Gallo-Italic languages can be described as halfway between French and Italian due to differing evolution and diffusion of various linguistic tendencies.

Catalan and/or Occitan (especially Gascon) effectively fulfill this purpose already. The language border today between France and Spain is much more pronounced than it was historically.

I see. It is strange that Catalan and Occitan / Gascon seem to be classified as part of both the Iberian Romance as well as Gallo-Romance branches.

Both of those categories are quite arbitrary to begin with, grouped more by geography/political borders than anything else.

Note the separate OccitanoRomance group between IberoRomance and NGalloRomance.
(Ignore some of the misspellings, it's translated from Russian!)

Thanks for the map.

Though one could possibly classify Arpitan / Franco-Provençal as such, based on the above it would be interesting seeing an Occitano-Italic language essentially halfway between Occitano-Romance or Occitan and Gallo-Italic / Cisalpine.

In regards to extinct Romance languages, British Latin would likely be in the Northern Gallo Romance Group, African Latin in the either South Romance or even Island Romance group. The Vulgar Latin of Maurentina would be spilt between the Ibero-Romance and South Romance or Island Romance zones.
