Death of Henry III
Death of Henry III

On 1 August 1589, Henry III lodged with his army at Saint-Cloud, and was preparing to attack Paris, when a young fanatical Dominican friar, Jacques Clément, carrying false papers, was granted access to deliver important documents to the king. The monk gave the king a bundle of papers and stated that he had a secret message to deliver. The king signalled for his attendants to step back for privacy, and Clément whispered in his ear while plunging a knife into his abdomen. Clément was then killed on the spot by the guards.

At first, the king's wound did not appear fatal, but he enjoined all the officers around him, in the event that he did not survive, to be loyal to Henry of Navarre as their new king. The following morning, on the day that he was to have launched his assault to retake Paris, Henry III died.

Chaos swept the attacking army, most of it quickly melting away; the proposed attack on Paris was postponed. Inside the city, joy at the news of Henry III's death was near delirium; some hailed the assassination as an act of God.

On the death of Henry III, the new Dauphin and the son of Henry IV of France and III of Navarre, Louis de Bourbon would take the young and beautiful Marie de Medicis as his wife, while Claude of France would focus on preparing her son, however, Henry IV himself would be very much taken by Gabrielle d’Estrees as his unofficial queen which would not be detested by Queen Claude.

Liking the premise of TTL and the possibilities that: A - Butterflying away the Iberian Union and establishing a clear line of sucession for Sebastião goes (I see his wife does convince him to not go adventuring in Africa, however instead begins influencing the Sultanate of Binalatogan, potentially leading to Portuguese Philippines (Or potentially Magellan Islands as I figure the Portuguese would name it after the Navigator that did the circum-navigation due to him being Portuguese or name them Margaret Islands after the Queen).

B - And on the other hand the alternate marriage arranged here for Louis XIII which should prove to have interesting effects on the future of the French Kingdom.

Meanwhile I am really curious as well to what path Phillip II would follow in TTL without the backing of the Portuguese. Does he still build an Armada to fight Elizabeth I of England? Is his defeat more of a disaster? Really curious.

So ATL Louis XIII married his first cousin (and his own parents were second cousins)?

Well...Binalatongan will treat the Portuguese like Ternate and the Muslim principalities in the South...put them at arms length...

On 1589, Queen Claude would arrange the marriage of Princess Catherine of Bourbon to Emperor Rudolf II of Austria, she would be prepared and in pomp and splendor when she arrived in Prague only to see a groom that would not be fond of her and only resulting in a daughter named Anna of Bohemia on 1596, the future Queen of Poland, while his brother Ernest would marry Isabella Clara Eugenia, the chosen heiress to the Netherlands, Philip II would not cede the Netherlands until 1599 continuing the hostilities with the Netherlands revolutionaries and Isabella Clara Eugenia would continue the fight against the Protestants in the Netherlands and she would have a sons of her own, Albrecht on May 10, 1593 and Rudolf on June 2, 1599, her support in the south of the Netherlands would cause the South of Netherlands to be considered to be a part of Germany, meanwhile Infanta Margarita of Portugal would marry Philip, Prince of Asturias on 1595.

The marriage of Marie de Medicis to Louis VIII would bring wonders to the treasury and economy of France bailing out the damage of the Religious fights in France and the union produced a daughter named Madeleine(June 2, 1596), followed by other children Henry(1601), Elizabeth(1602), Christine(1606), Gaston (1608) and Louise Marie (1611).

No way Isabella Clara Eugenia will marry Albretch so early. Here she will marry https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archduke_Ernest_of_Austria (aka Rudolf next brother)

Thanks. Albert right now is in the church (and too low in the line of succession) and Ernest was a nephew who Philip liked (and OTL Philip had thinked more than once to give Netherlands or the hand of Isabella to Ernest so the choice is pretty logical)

There are terms about the new country, the Japanese and Chinese will call the Sultanate of Binalatongan as Sanfoqi/Sanbutsu.

Isabella Clara Eugenia

Isabella Clara Eugenia

After her uncle, Henry III of France, was assassinated by the fanatical young monk Jacques Clément on 2 August 1589, Philip II claimed the French crown on behalf of Isabella Clara Eugenia despite France's Salic law, which forbade cognatic succession. At any rate, Isabella Clara Eugenia's mother had ceded any claim to the French crown with her marriage to Philip II.

On 18 April 1590, being 24 years old, she married Ernest, the younger brother of her former fiancé Emperor Rudolf II. However the condition was that she would be the sovereign only after Philip II would die, which would happen on 1599, however on that point the Netherlands revolt was advanced and they would only rule the south of the Netherlands, the marriage would produce three surviving and healthy children, Margaret of Austria (June 4, 1591), Albrecht on May 10, 1593 and Rudolf on June 2, 1599.

The fought of betrothal
The fought of betrothal

On 1602, on the ascenscion of King James VI and I, he would negotiate the hand of Princess Madeleine of France, she is said to be wanted by the King as she has a protestant Grandfather, Henry IV, Princess Madeleine’s painting would be received by the King of France, the other one who wanted to have the hand of Princess Madeleine is Albrecht the obvious heir to the Holy Roman Empire.

Henry IV of France would concern himself of the marriage of his own daughter, Madeleine and his own peace treaty with Spain and he would decide on 1605 to marry his own grand daughters, Madeleine and Elizabeth to Albrecht and Philip, Prince of Asturias along with the marriage of Anna of Austria with his grandson, Henry, however, that decision was a hard one as he would want to end his own issues with the Spanish before the end of his own reign.

Madeleine of France or rather Madeleine would be said to be a precocious and precious beauty of France and fit and ambitious to become the Holy Roman Empress, and she would marry Albrecht on 1606 which would solve the issues of the borders of France and the Netherlands and during that time, Henry IV would meet Princess Isabella Clara Eugenia to discuss about the marriage plans.

On 1610, Henry IV would die and give his throne to Louis XIII, whose daughter is the future Holy Roman Empress.

Melancholy of Margot
Melancholy of Margot

On 1585, Marguerite of France would arrange the marriage of her son, Manuel to Anna of Bourbon, who is the son of Henry III of Navarre, Anna of Bourbon is the princess du sang of France who would establish the relationship between France and Spain, the marriage would produce 3 kids namely Anna Maria of Portugal(1589), Sebastian of Portugal(May 2, 1592) and Manuel of Portugal(December 10, 1600).

After the marriage ceremony, Marguerite of France, Marguerite of Portugal would continue to be separate with her husband, Sebastian I and chose to be with her lesbian lover which would infuriate the court and the courtiers would say that Sebastian should choose to annul the marriage with Marguerite but Sebastian would refuse the possible divorce.

During that time Marguerite would help in the indies colonies of Portugal helping the Portuguese create their factories in Saludong in Faro, Macabebe, Olongapo in the Sultanate of Binalatongan on 1600, the Portuguese would discover Formosa which is near China.

On 1570, the Forces from the Muslims in the North of Nueva Castilla or Saludong would send forces to expel the Spanish in Manila and Bulacan as they see them as a threat and save their allies Soliman and Lakandula in the South, despite them failing in the Battle of Bangkusay, they would be able to survive their own defeat in the battle of Bangkusay and went on to become a united Polity named Sultanate of Saludong in the North of Nueva Castilla centered in Binalatongan and also called as the Sultanate of Binalatongan which would have been a Muslim polity in the North of Saludong which would foster good relations with the Kingdom of Portugal and allow them to build factories like the Sultanate of Gowa did to the Portuguese, the Sultanate of Binalatongan would establish the River of Angat and Sierra Madre as their southern border with the Spanish.

On 1573, the Kingdom of Caboanan and the other Muslims of Northern Luzon or Saludong would assist Limahong in his seizure of the city of Manila after he sought refuge there in 1573 which would lead in Limahong’s capture by the Spanish and Limahong being sent back to China.

Tondo Conspiracy of 1587-1588 (known by numerous outer names such as the Revolt of the Lakans or the Conspiracy of the Maharlikas), was a revolt planned by Tagalog nobles, led by Agustin de Legazpi of Tondo and his cousin Martin Panga, to overthrow the Spanish government situated in the Philippines due to the injustices felt by the Filipinos. It was territorially one of the largest conspiracies against the Spanish rule next to the Katipunan. It ranged from provinces near Manila all the way to Calamianes islands near Palawan.

Legazpi sought help from a Japanese sea captain named Juan Gayo and asked for arms and warriors to fight alongside them in exchange for one-half of the tribute collected in the Philippines. They also requested help from places such as Borneo, Laguna, and Batangas with a plan to assault the city of Manila and assassinate the Spaniards. However, their plan was discovered by the Spaniards when Magat Salamat revealed their plan to fellow rebel Antonio Surabao who turned out to be a traitor when he reported the conspiracy to the Spaniards. Consequently, the rebels associated with the conspiracy were all punished with some put to death and others exiled and others escaped to the Sultanate of Binalatongan who harbored them and the plot against the Spaniards died along with them.
