La Malinche Dies Before Travelling with Cortes to the Aztec Empire (1519)

Point of Divergence ... One of the key factors in Cortes' success was the discovery of La Malinche. La Malinche was a female slave who was given to Cortes along with 19 other women that was given to Cortes and his men by the Chontal Maya tribe in 1519. Entranced with her beauty, Cortes bestowed on her the name of Dona Marina, which became her Christian name upon her being baptized. Her skill in the Nahuatl language, the language of the Aztecs, was prized, and she would translate the Nahuatl into Chontal Maya, which would then be translated with the help of a Friar named Geronimo De Aguilar. Marina would also warned Cortes of a plan of the Choula people to join forces with the Aztecs and defeat the Spanish. She was an invaluable asset in the conquest of the Aztec and Central America.

What if shortly after Cortes met La Malinche, she contracted smallpox and died soon after encountering the Spanish soldiers, before translating or travelling to the Aztec empire. What happens to Cortes and the Spanish?
