Kuwait-Pakistan union?

Most of the possibilities suggested by the Flags Mashup Bot are of course utterly implausible in the real world but what about this one?

Kuwait, granted independence in 1961, realizes it is too weak to defend itself against Iraq so it seeks protection from the most populous Islamic country in the world at the time...

I think Kuwait would probably become the junior partner of another Arab state if it seeks protection from Iraq

Saudi Arabia is the obvious candidate but it had had territorial disputes with Kuwait for some time, Saudi Arabia wanting to absorb as much of Kuwait as possible (preferably all of it). In OTL, these disputes were eventually peacefully settled by the division of the so-called Neutral Zone, but in an ATL where no agreement is reached, maybe Pakistan can portray itself as the protector of Kuwait against both Iraq and Saudi Arabia. (Iran might also aspire to that role but the Kuwaitis may prefer Pakistan for--among other reasons--its Sunni majority.)

Kuwait would more likely merge with Saudi Arabia than a distant non-Arab nation. Any support for this likely evaporated after the independence of Bangladesh.

Considering Kuwait was a protectorate of the British Raj I think this is somewhat plausible if there is a pre-arranged agreement in between the British, Pakistanis, and Kuwait in which Pakistan takes over the role of protecting Kuwait once Britain withdraws from the east of Suez. Maybe Pakistan can get responsibility for the Trucial States and other British protectorates in the Gulf as well.

IIRC there was a proposal to merge Afghanistan with Pakistan in the 50s and 60s. Adding Kuwait into the mix might turn Pakistan into a kind of Islamic thalassocracy in the Indian ocean with Bangladesh and Kuwait being overseas territories.

I don't see why Kuwait would merge with Pakistan as opposed to having a security agreement like the other Gulf States do. On the Pakistani side of things a merger would mean Pakistan is now splitting it's forces on four fronts having to face India in both West and East Pakistan, Afghanistan in the north, and Iraq in Kuwait .

Why would Pakistan want a country called Kwustan? You guys realise that “stan” means “land of”. It’s like England, Scotland, Ireland, Finland, Netherlands etc.
The land of Kuwait?

To answer OP, yeah, zero chance Pakistan wants it.
