At the Uqair Convention in which the boundaries of today's Kuwait and Saudi Arabia were set/imposed by the British High Commissioner to Iraq Percy Cox (a friend of Ibn Saud), the Saudis managed to get 2/3 of Kuwait's territory. Kuwait was not given any input on the matter.
What if all of eastern Saudi Arabia north of al-Hasa and Qatif had remained part of Kuwait? Much of Saudi Arabia's oil would be Kuwaiti here. The loss of Kuwaiti territory was what caused anti-British sentiment in Kuwait to arise at the time that it did as well.
